From: David Tweed Subject: To boldly go ... Date: Sat, 01 Mar 1997 19:00:35 -0500 Hi, all -- Since joining DSS, I have been emboldened in my forays, first into doing more barefootin' in cold weather (actually, the winter's been pretty mild in New England anyway), and second into "pushing the envelope" a little bit as far as going into commercial establishments barefoot. Last night, I visited both CompUSA and Barnes & Noble (in Nashua, NH) barefoot. I even interacted with store personnel at both places with nary a comment from them about what I was or was not wearing. I had a pair of sandals with me just in case, but I tucked them into the back of the waistband of my pants, out of sight under my sweatshirt so that they wouldn't evoke any requests to put them on. I need to get some sort of fanny pack to hold them in warmer weather, I guess. I'm not ready to travel any significant distance from home without *any* footgear at all. So, keep those feet bare, and those of you who still feel shy about it, just go for it! -- Dave P.S. Saw a great movie last week: "The Flintstones". Not a single shoe in the whole thing, and dirty soles all around! It sure brought back memories of watching the cartoon as a kid.
