From: Jon Cooper Subject: Barefooting in Central Florida Date: Fri, 11 Aug 1995 11:43:54 -0400 Newsgroups: alt.lifestyle.barefoot Last year, I started going barefoot to my classes at college. After only a few days, I noticed that no one else went barefoot (barring one or two people). As a result of this, the shod people always gave me "the look," some even went as far as commenting on the fact that I wasn't wearing shoes. I became daunted, and went back to the shoe life. Well, when I woke up this morning, I couldn't believe what a nice day it was. I said to myself, "Self, let's go barefoot." Needless to say, self won out, and here I am at the lab, shoeless and happy. This time out, I got the look, and gave the look right back, as if to say "this dude is actually wearing shoes." Of course, people in my classes were still asking questions and making comments, and telling me the horrible diseases I'll pick up. But now I realy don't care. I'm not a rebel, or some guy who likes attention. I'm just someone who likes the feel of the cool grass, the hot asphalt, and cold smooth tiles. After reading numerous posts on this group, I realize that it's the people with shoes that have the wrong idea, not me. The only thing now that bothers me about barefooting, is that no one else up here does it. Thanks to everyone for helping kick the shoe habit :) Jon Cooper
