From: Jeff Blake Subject: Dirtiest soles ever Date: Fri, 04 Nov 94 17:15:13 -0300 The absolute dirtiest I had ever gotten was when I was barefoot for a 1 1/2 hour ferry ride across the Long Island Sound. It was summer and it appeared to be clean enough so I didn't hesitate to leave any footwear in the car. I guess there was a lot of oil/dirt everywhere that I didn't know about. To combat seasickness I normally do a lot of roaming around outside of the cabin. From all that walking, the soles of my feet got just as black as black paint! From brushing up against the soles, the rest of my feet got quite a bit of a "dusty" look too. I didn't know that it was going to be so dirty, but I was prepared to get extra dirty the next time I was barefoot on the ferry. I don't know about safety, but mowing the lawn barefoot will stain your feet nicely. Walking behind the mower, all the juice oozing from the freshly cut grass will put a stain that lasts quite a long time. I have a large lawn, so my feet get really stained. I don't consider a stain like that as having dirty feet: I wash (scrub) my feet before going in the house to get all the "dirt" and wet juice off; the green washes off the toes, but from being ground in juice for over an hour, my soles get deeply stained. The longlasting stain can be proudly worn.
