Although the temperatures were from -10 - 10 F there was no wind what-so-ever... this allowed me to go everywhere either barefoot or at the very worst with flip flops... the funnest part was that at least 3 other times friends commented how cold their feet were, but they were actually cool about it and rather than insisting my feet must be cold we hypothesised how much better the circulation must be in my feet compared to their circulation... likely one other benefit of commonly barefooting... I've found my tolerance to walk barefoot about 2-3 blocks in this cold, but as close to infinite as necessary with flip flops (which gave me a bad blister on the top of my small toe, I'd almost forgotten what blisters were like). One of the cool things was when I was with a bunch of friends at one's girlfriend's apartment... I had gone their barefoot, and while we were waiting to get in, I walked around in the snow... it was about just an inch deep, one could see the top of some of the grass, so my prints stood out decently well, and were quite clearly barefoot... later that night one of the other people who lived their arrived and said, "You should all go look outside, it's really cool, there are a bunch of *bare* foot prints out there." One of my other friends pointed out I shouldn't do this any place closer to the boonies or the size of my feet might have a few people hunting Bigfoot in the woods :) But it's still quite nice to be back in more barefoot friendly terrain... Oh, one thing that I've been noticeing lately is that I've only recieved positive reactions to being barefoot since I've been painting my toe-nails... I don't see the people who give my a nasty look any more, just some who avoid any eye-contact what-so-ever... but, being a long haired freak with a lip ring there is a decent amount of people who would do that even if I were bowing to society's want for shoes... All in all it's a nice effect, people are either nice to me, or do all they can to not enter my personal universe.
