Dear Mr. Shakely:

This letter is in regards to a request you sent Dr. Patrick J. Meehan concerning the requirements to wear shoes in food service establishments.

There are no State laws requiring customers to wear shoes in an food service establishment in Georgia. These signs, if posted, reflect a store policy and not a state health law.

If customers encounter these signs they need to notify the local (county) health department and the signs will be removed or reworded to reflect a store policy.
