Dear Sir or Madam,

I would appreciate a brief response to the following question:
Does the state of North Carolina or the North Carolina Department of Health
have any law or regulation that requires shoes or other footwear
for the general public (i.e., patrons) in places open to the
public such as restaurants, retail establishments, libraries
schools, etc.?
I ask this, in part, because some restaurants and establishments
have signs that read, "Shoes required, by order of
the Health Dept."
A brief, one sentence response either outlining any relevant
regulations (with citation) or the lack thereof is all I ask.
