Dear Mr. Korsky,

I am writing in response to your letter dated March 22, 2002, regarding shoes in restaurants. Oregon Administrative Rules specifically regulate restaurants and other food service facilities, not libraries and retail establishments. The Oregon Administrative Rules do not require that patrons have shoes in the customer service area of a restaurant. The facility MAY choose to require the patrons to wear shoes as part of their policy, but it is not necessary to comply with Oregon Statutes or Administrative Rules.
