Dear Mr. Roat: Thank you for your interest in public health and safety. The Pennsylvania Department of Health does not regulate the sanitary conditions of restaurants or other public access facilities where food may be sold or served. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services administers all food service regulations. Information on the Department of Agriculture's food safety regulations may be obtained by contacting their regional office at (610) 489-1003 or at Route 113, P.O.Box 300, Creamery, Pennsylvania 19430. It is possible that the "Health Department" noted in the signs that you have seen is the Bucks County Health Department. The Bucks County Health Department has been delegated by the Commonwealth to enforce certain standards relating to public health, including food service sanitation. Information on public health regulations that may be unique to Buck County can be obtained by calling the Bucks County Health Department, Division of Environmental Health, at (215) 345-3336, or at the Health Building, Second Floor, Neshaminy Manor Center, Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901. |
