RE: Rhode Island Food Code
Dear Mr. Roat:
Dr. Patricia Nolan, Director of Health, has forwarded yoru letter of March 12, 2002 to me for reply. For your reference, I am attaching a copy of the Rhode Island Food Code, promulgated by the Rhode Island Department of Health, last amended in 1994.
As you may see, this Food Code does not contain any reference to or requirement about shoes or other footwear being wore by patrons in restaurants or other retail establishments. The Rhode Island Secretary of State's Office would be knowledgeable about other Rhode Island state agencies that may promulgate regulations on this issue. They may be reached at 401-222-2390.
