Dear Mr. DiFonzo:

Thank you for your recent letter requesting information on public health laws and regulations in West Virginia.

There are no public health laws or regulations in the State of West Virginia requiring patrons in public places such as restaurants, retail establishments, libraries, and schools to wear shoes or footwear. Also, I am not aware of any local health department rules to that effect. Public facilities may, of course, establish their own policies on customer footwear.

If you need further information on West Virginia's public health laws or regulations, please feel free to write or call Ronald K. Forren, R.S., Director, Public Health Sanitation Division, Office of Environmental Health Services, 815 Quarrier Street, Suite 418, Charleston, West Virginia 25301-2616, telephone (304) 558-6732.

Sincerely,

(signed)

Paul L. Nusbaum
Secretary
